The process we use to build mosiac glass tile murals
roughly consists of three stages:
First, the mural is designed and the images are processed
using software to convert the pixels of a digital image into the
color palette of our glass tiles. |
Next, we take these images and run them through our TilePile
software that lets us see quickly and easily where to put glass
tiles on a one-foot square grid rack. For each square foot of the
mural we fill one of these squares with 225 tiles, so we rely on
volunteer help for this phase. |
Finally, we arrange these squares of 225 tiles in the correct
order so that together they make the mural. Once they are arranged
correctly they are ready to be installed on the mural surface with
plaster and later cleaned. |
